Support for 4MP cameras is impressive at this price level, but note that it cannot simultaneously play back more than 4 channels. The hardware is not powerful enough to simultaneously playback 16x4MP streams. Its a great option if you are on a budget but I would encourage you to look at our best value recommendation below. PROS:Good image quality with 4MP camerasIR LEDs provide night vision capabilityExcellent value for moneyUSB Backup featureCONS:No advanced motion detection methods such as line crossing, intrusion or dwell detectionNVR doesn’t support ONVIF standard for automatically adding 3rd party IP camerasCan playback only 4 channels simultaneously synchronous playbackNo redundant storage supportNo remote controlCheck Price on AmazonCheck Price on Reolink. comBack to comparison tableBest Value 16 ch NVR Kit: LaView 6MP 16 channel NVR Kit with 12x 2MP PoE cameras and 3TB hard drive LaView LV KN996P1612A4 T3 LV N9916C6E NVR Features16 channel recording @ 6MP supportedPoE enabled3TB hard drive included, max. I believe its great value though as most people can do just fine with 1080p resolution. What is more important is that it supports advanced motion detection algorithms to cut down on false alerts. Besides you can always add more higher resolution cameras as 4 PoE ports are available for further expansion. Although it come with only 1 hard drive, you can add up to 4 in total for an amazing level of redundancy. You can even specify which cameras should be recorded on each disk – that is a degree of fine tuning that you cannot get in lesser models.
But we wanted to figure out what these differences meant on a day to day basis: Which features were necessary for improved peace of mind?Which would be easiest to integrate into our daily routines?Needless to say, the market is increasingly shifting toward DIY home security, as people look for options that work seamlessly with their existing smart homes. Technology may not be at the point where an alarm will sound if your security camera detects an unfamiliar face or burglar — but it’s certainly not very far. On the other hand, the more we automate and become intertwined with the Cloud, the more vulnerable our personal data becomes to hacking. The demand for greater smart home automation also paves the way for voice assistant compatibility, which is helpful but also opens another window of opportunity for hacking or data leaks. However, big names — like the ones in this lineup — either tend to move quickly in the event of a data breach and/or constantly update security features to make sure your information isn’t leaked into the wrong hands. Still, it doesn’t hurt to be mindful and keep tabs on your network’s security, enable two factor authentication, and constantly update your system’s software.

alarm monitoring cellularThe quality of wireless security systems in the market today considerably varies. If you want to ensure that your purchase will be worthwhile and will last longer, go for well known manufacturers who have already built an outstanding reputation. 5. If you’re a beginner when it comes to home security systems, consider buying a starter kit instead of purchasing separate components. A starter kit usually provides the basic equipment and software needed, as well as detailed instructions on how to install them. Eventually, you may choose to expand your system and add more elements. 6. Most home security companies use standard components that are compatible with all major providers in the market, while some offer proprietary equipment. In order to have the flexibility and versatility to buy from different suppliers and the option to expand your system, stay away from companies that only sell proprietary equipment. 7. Consider setting up a separate computer to store your CCTV video feeds.
